Sick of waiting for a PC?
Wait no more my fellow gaming enthusiasts. Some basic renovations will take place during the following week that will improve many things up front. We won't open until 2:00pm this Monday-Friday, but the list below will hopefully soften the inconvenience:

1. Service counter will be cut in half to make room for the pool table and optimize the store's layout. A row of 5 PC's will be added within the next few weeks on the Veterans-facing wall of Dibbz.

2. 3 more PC's will find their way into the back area making a total of 8 new systems - That's 41 PC's if you've been keeping score

3. The new service counter layout will make it easier for us to repair and build PC's so make sure to spread the word for us after everything's finished next week!

4. Instead of the current table and chair setup, we will have a more laptop/wireless friendly couch, chair and table area.

5. A giant statue of Mike will be placed reverently on the roof of Dibbz. It will feature this beloved Dibbz figure in musical ecstacy as he signs John Meyer's - "Your Body is a Wonderland" to the heavy Veterans traffic.

Lighting, carpet tiles and more will follow in the weeks after construction. Oh and our new, simple, but awesome-ass logo will replace the current Dibbz signs on the building.

Suggestions are always welcome so make sure to visit the forums and speak your mind.

Improvements
Many new games will be added to our PC collection this week and next week. Check out the major sites like gamestop to see the new releases...we'll have all the big ones.

Also, our internet WILL be upgraded during this month. We will start off experimenting with 6mbps DSL and if it performs the way cox has been performing, then we're switching to a T1/DSL dual connection - yes, you heard me. Either 6mbps DSL or Dual T1/DSL!! We will be testing the first DSL line within 2 weeks and if it doesn't work out, we'll have the T1 installed, so keep checking back for updates.

Mousepads too...really neat 8.5x11 inch mousepads with Dibbz stuff on them. We also have NOT forgotten the front area re-design. After all 33 of our PC's are up and running, we'll get to work on the changes.

Thanks again for everyone's help and support. It looks like Dibbz might very well exist in a post-Katrina city.

[Original Post]
Our PC's have been ordered. They should arrive between Tuesday and Thursday which means we MIGHT be able to open this Friday (14th) depending on how quickly we can get everything set up.

Cafe Tables and Chairs for Sale
These Cafe Tables and Chairs are for sale - $150 per set

If you know anyone who happens to be looking for something like this, please let us know. These sets sell at Pier 1 for SIGNIFICANTLY more. The last time we put these on sale, they were gone within about a week and a half so my advice would be to contact us A.S.A.P.

*Store Update* - The cleaning continues. Thanks again to everyone who showed up to help out yesterday. We got the lawn in order and the inside of the store cleaned out a bit.

Also, we're working as hard as we can to get the insurance adjuster out here, but we're stuck until we get that figured out. We will be opening within 2 weeks if all goes according to plan and we'll announce a definite date as soon as we have one. Thanks for standing by us guys...

You guys ROCK
Our wooden window replacement rocks now!

Update We will NOT be opening Friday. We can't get enough of our parts shipped in time so we will be dealing with the shipping companies this week to nail down a definite date. At that time, we'll announce like our 5th grand opening or whatever number Dibbz is on tongue

Stay tuned fellas.

On our way...
Finally got in touch with the insurance company and the ball is rolling. We might order our parts as early as next week which could mean an opening verrrrry soon!!

UPDATE
We're shooting for an opening this Sunday the 9th...but this would be the basic opening. We would have all new computers, but the layout would be unchanged. We just want to get open! However, work will go on to change the face of Dibbz from that date on. The Dibbz 2.0 thread gave us a lot of great ideas...

TELL EVERYONE to keep checking back for an updated opening date!! If all goes according to plan this week, Dibbz Pre-Katrina form, will be ready to go this weekend.

Hurricane Update
Both Mike and I are alive and kicking thank goodness. He rode out the storm in Covington and I experienced it in Jackson. When the parish finally let us back into the area, we confirmed earlier reports that Dibbz was looted. Apparently, our ash tray was hurled through our glass doorway and just about every freaking thing in the damn store was stolen. I hope computers helped those poor innocent souls to survive during the aftermath of Katrina...maybe they ate the things or something.

If the phones worked better and all the insurance companies weren't swamped, it would be a far easier process for us. However, I'm not complaining because our area is one of the few that didn't flood high thank goodness. Dibbz had no water damage in fact.

As to the big question - Will Dibbz re-open?
It will depend heavily on how are experience goes with the insurance company. Assuming it goes well, the answer is a tentative "yes".

Expect an update on progress once the date for the re-opening of Jefferson Parish is set. And I want to thank ALL OF YOU, because I've recieved nothing but a steady stream of positive comments and pledges of help & support. Mike and I are extremely lucky to have such an incredible group of friends like you guys (and girls smile )

Random Update...
First off, CrazyBrowser is a nifty little Internet Explorer add-on I found while looking through reviews of the upcoming IE7. Adds features like tabbed browsing for those of us unwilling to make the Firefox conversion. Just thought I'd share that...

The Lockin/All-Nighter was pretty damn awesome yet again and peaked at about 7:30am when Wesley Snipes a.k.a. "Blade" made an appearance. I'll have pictures up at some point today on the Gallery

Also, I am on a TIRELESS search for the perfect CS:Source Zombie mod! A few people found some internet servers modded to include human-controlled zombie players. You get a few special attributes as the zombie including the ability to turn regular humans on the CT team into zombie minions. It was fun as hell and I can't find it anywhere so keep your eyes open and let me know if you find it!

One last thing - Girard is waxing their court next week and may not be available for Battleball so in the meantime I'm looking to rent a few lanes at AMF again unless someone comes up with a better idea... I'll keep everyone posted.
