The F.A.Q. on the Childsplay site says that things like consoles will be kept at the hospital for future use while some stuff is sent home with the kids. I'm interested in giving the hospital some actual equipment like a PS2, Gamecube or DS.

To be honest I'm not sure how much I can contribute financially. In my opinion we should either sponsor this charity at Dibbz more actively than we do (a visible, secure donation box, for example) to save up for some consoles for these kids or everyone could simply bring in what they can.

I love the concept of this, but donating a PS2 or similar console is simply beyond my means at this point, as I'm sure it is for others as well. A collective effort could remedy the problem, in my opinion.

I've been racking my brain for some ideas and I seem to have come up with some. I need to talk some over with Kevin, but I'm sure many are very plausible. I've already donated personally, so I'm seeking to just get more of a community effort (we are a LAN center).

Just to clarify, I'm not expecting anyone to fork over anything financially, let alone 3 figures for a console. I think it would be more meaningful if they let us in to the hospital to actually game with the kids. My post was about what everyone's opinions on what Dibbz should get for them.

I wonder if they would let a group of us go in there and have like a little game day. Bring some of our stuff to play with them and junk. Then give out some small presents, or one or two larger presents.

Yea, something like a lan party. We can bring risk and stuff!! Maybe we can get with the hosptial and organize a lan party? And set up console games as well as board games and stuff.

I am totaly willing to go and have game day with them, I have 360, PS2, GC to bring if we go too, I can get a few games from block buster whatever.

What would be gifts though? I'm sure my mom would help out, I could get a few $20 PS2 games I bet.
Maybe we could get some sort of sponsor to donate things, best buy, compusa, I don't really know maybe a local business would do it.

Just an update,

The Children's Hospital is booked solid during the holidays for volunteer opportunities. However, we can do a game day (board games, handhelds, consoles etc...) after the holidays and I'll post here when I have more info.
